The Dream Ticket

A whirlwind couple of days for Ipswich Town Football Club, as we have been thrust back into the limelight with the biggest off-field changes in many years. New owner, Marcus Evans, has shown clear intent of the company he wishes his Football Club to keep.

April 22nd 2009. The day Marcus Evans began to flex his muscles as Ipswich Town owner.

Since Evans takeover, the club has witnessed a steady streamlining off the pitch, with the finance provided to enable the same on the pitch. Yet, with the season at a relative dead-end, progress was suddenly hastened.

Firstly, the announcement of Simon Clegg, the brains behind Great Britains hugely succesful 2008 Olympic campaign, joining the club to replace the outgoing Derek Bowden. In terms of high-profile sporting chief executives, it was hard for Town to aim higher.

Secondly, came the sacking of Jim Magilton, a move not entirely unexpected in the context of a season that clearly failed to meet expectations, not least for the clubs owner.

And following swiftly was the highest profile appointment of them all. Roy Keanes disappearance from the football world following his departure from Sunderland was widely expected to be permanent. So, encouraging him back again was even more impressive.

After 18 months assessing the club and taking advice from a wide variety of sources, Evans eventually determined that it was time to do it his way.

Ipswich Town Football Club has never known such a level of attention to its off-field activities. And this is only the beginning.
