Jims Best Summer Signing?

Our latest poll has closed and, in attempting to find out who you thought was Jim's best signing of the summer, it has perhaps given a greater indication of where you think he went wrong.

Kevin Lisbie has proven to be the most popular signing so far, but its those further down the list, or not on it at all, that are more revealing.

Lisbies early goals for Town appear to have gone some way to winning fans over as he tops the poll as Magiltons best summer signing. With the goals having dried up in more recent times, however, he perhaps would not feature so highly at this precise moment in time.

However, its in second place where more of a story is told. By a comfortable margin, many thought that the player Jim has yet to sign was likely to be the best signing. Perhaps indicating that fans felt that Jims summer signings to that point had not been particularly exciting, or that the player that he needed above all else had yet to be signed. Certainly, with regard to the left-midfield position, the latter would certainly appear to be the case as it continues to be a problem position.

It could be argued that the player in question was Jon Stead. Doubtless, nobody would have agreed at the time, but if a similar vote were to take place right now, Stead would be in with a very good chance of winning it.

Richard Wright was fairly well placed, although perhaps not highly enough for a player who was signed with high expectations to finally fill a problem position. With recent mistakes, the voting looks to have been about right however; generally well thought of, but by no means a resounding success.

The most notable amongst the remaining has to be new Team Captain, Gareth McAuley. Of only 6 available option, McAuley collected just over 5% of the vote, which is by no means an endorsement of either Jims judgement or the impact of the player himself.
