Back in Business!

Town got their season on track with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Leyton Orient at Portman Road tonight. But whilst the score itself was heartening, the players who made an appearance will have lifted hearts, giving a positive indication of the team for Burnley on Saturday.

With two goals from Danny Haynes and one from Tommy Miller, their performances look to have done more than enough to confirm their place in the starting line-up on Saturday.

But the real story was up front where Jon Walters hopefully put an end to some of the transfer speculation, for the time being anyway, by making a long awaited appearance. It seems unlikely that his fitness will be enough to justify a start on Saturday, although its by no means out of the question. Alan Lee, with the fourth goal, may have done enough to force his way into the side, though it seems likely that Kevin Lisbie will retain his place away from home.

David Norris also put in a solid stint coming off the bench to replace Alan Quinn. If Norris fitness is up to scratch, and indications suggest so, he may also come into Jim Magiltons plans. However, with Miller again putting in a very solid midfield performances he, like Walters, may have to wait on the sidelines for a little longer.

The return of these two players, who could prove to be Towns most influential over the season, probably overshadows tonights result in significance.

Elsewhere, Richard Naylor and Alex Bruce have both put themselves in the running for the centreback slot alongside Gareth McAuley. After Saturdays disappointment, it seems extremely unlikely that the defence will go unchanged. The appearance of Chris Casement would also have significance if David Wright were to be switched to left back at Burnley, however the immiment signing of Ben Thatcher looks to have put paid to that.

All in all a very satisfactory nights work which will recover some much needed momentum after the burst balloon of Saturdays performance. Not to mention the fact that Town saw off lower league opposition and progressed to the Carling Cup 2nd round for the first time in years.
