Poll Results: Released Players

We asked you which of the players released by the club, or transfer-listed, at the end of the season you would most like to see stay. Two players were far ahead of any others. It seems that most of you would rather we didnt let Billy Clarke leave, whilst many will be sad that Sito has left. Read the full results....

Whilst fans hold most affection for the academy product who turns out to be a star, similarly the academy products are, understandably, the ones we least want to see fail and move on.

In part, its also because it feels as if Billy Clarke is a case of unfulfilled potential. He has shown in flashes that he has the ability and that he might be able to make it at this level. Quick and sharp, with excellent movement, he just needs a bit of confidence and a run of games. Whether he gets that or not remains to be seen, but at this moment hes still here so the dream lives on....

Sito was second, which again is no real surprise. Of all the players on the list, Sito was the only one who had played regularly in the first team over the last few months of the season. He has also been a very popular player in his three seasons at the club. It seems that he is just not quite up to the required level in the eyes of the management, something that most fans quietly acknowledge. He moves on with warm wishes.

Dan Harding came third, which is again not entirely surprising. Harding was a popular player during his first season, where he grew into the left back role, gaining confidence as the weeks past. A drop in performances seemed to erode that confidence very quickly and see him out of the first team picture. Given his former success, its not surprising that many fans would like to see him stay and get another chance.

Gavin Williams was perhaps the surprise, coming fourth. This is inevitably a result of the unquestionable ability that the player posesses, a real case of unfulfilled potential. His fitness and general level of form were more dominant factors however, and so he has moved on.

Gary Roberts lagged some way further behind, perhaps an indication that the majority of fans had already concluded that he wasnt going to make it. He should have a greater impact at Huddersfield.

Completing the list are the two older players, Legwinski and Wilnis, both of whom have graced this level but look unlikely to play there again as they look to retirement, and Matt Richards, the player that I think most fans have forgotten is still actually employed by Ipswich Town.
