This website has made no secret of its thoughts towards Tommy Miller over the last few months. Finally, it seems that hes getting the credit he deserves.
Its been a tough season for Tommy Miller. He has become this seasons "figure of hate" at times. Hes been asked to work shifts in unfamiliar positions, for the good of the team, and been criticised for it. Hes found himself in and out of the side on occasions.
Its taken a dramatic last ditch free-kick goal against Wolves to finally do it, but he seems to have won the fans over again.
Its actually been over the period of the last month where Tommy has really put together his best performances since his return to the club, each one being stronger than the last. This has, in turn, allowed him to push Velice Sumulikoski out of the starting line-up- no mean feat after the great start he had made to his Ipswich career.
There is perhaps some irony in the fact it took a free-kick goal to finally win the fans over. Several players have routinely tried their luck from free kicks this season, but Tommy Miller is rarely the player allowed an opportunity. Yet, despite this, he is the only player to have actually managed to score directly from a free kick all season (v. Scunthorpe) and ran very close to getting the ball past David Marshall in the derby.
Next season promises to be a very different season for Tommy Miller, I suspect.
