Poll Results: Goal of the Season so Far

No surprises really in our goal of the season so far poll. Pablos outstanding effort against Charlton Athletic was the clear winner and looks unlikely to be beaten between now and the end of the season. See Full Results.

Whilst Pablos effort is the stand-out goal so far, the 2nd choice was much harder to make.

Jon Walters attempt to break the net against Bristol City narrowly wins out over Alan Lees effort at Burnley (surely the best team goal of the season?) and Sylvain Legwinskis fine volley against QPR (proving that class is permanent).

Since the poll was put up, Shumis goal against Blackpool would probably now be a contender also.

Interesting to note that of the nine goals to choose from, all four goals scored away from home made the top 5. Perhaps an indication that, with our away form somewhat lacking, it required moments of outstanding individual ability to score away from home. Whereas all the goals scored at home were good team goals.

Its also seems a long time since Gary Roberts goal against Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day of the season. At the time, it felt like it would be one of the goals of the season. Since then, the goal, and the player, have faded from memory.

1. Counago v. Charlton

2. Walters (2nd) v. Bristol City

3. Lee v. Burnley

4. Legwinski v. QPR

5. Quinn v. Wednesday

6. Wright v. West Brom

7. Miller v. Preston

8. Roberts v. Wednesday

9. Haynes v. Wolves 10
